Welcome to Real Talk Behind the Badge—where cops and communities drop the masks and get real. I’m Tim, a retired Massachusetts cop—street beat, supervisor, detective, narco squad boss. I’ve been shot at, family threatened, been sued and cleared, injured too many times and have had to fight for my life.  Now, I’m cracking the badge wide open: why’s policing bleeding cash and trust—like South Carolina’s $9 million in payouts in 2024 alone—and who’s got answers?

This ain’t a lecture hall or a PR spin—it’s a mic for the 720,652 cops grinding it out there and the citizens footing the bill or feeling the heat. We’re here to talk truth, not theories.  The answers to policing problems MUST come from fellow officers, not the academics, bureaucrats, desk jockeys or the public who doesn’t know a thing about policing. It must come from you, me and our brother officers in the business of policing.

This podcast digs for answers—In South Carolina (where I currently live) starting pay averages about $45K; that’s a slap to SC officers, 550 injured in a 2024, $91 million torched in South Carolina over five years on lawsuits and lawyer fees. I’ve lived it—eaten fists, dodged lies, and seen the system shrug. Real Talk’s our shot to hash it out: what’s broken, who’s hurting, how we mend it. No suits here, no scripts—just street-level answers from the badge and beyond. You’ve got a stake—cop or civilian—this is your turf too.
